Word and Thread (Variation)

Gracias,
el pobre hilito
Bob was saying that this was for going
shopping, you see
it's like a shopping bag
except that the bag is invisible
and the thread too
imagine twisting from that invisible thread
from that invisible thread
concha de tu madre el hilito
entonces el libro se llama
"word and thread"
word and thread
the thread is not a thread
it is only a million fibers intertwined
the word is not a word
it is only silence and sound
it is only siiilence and sound
word is a thread
and the thread is language
mentira que piensa ser
non linear, non linear
qué falsedad
qué absoluta falsedad
hilar necesita two other lines
qué va a ser
a word once written
risks becoming linear
risks becoming linear
but word and thread exist on another
dimensional plane
vibrant, vibrant forms
vibrant forms
acts of union and separation
the word is silence and sound
the weaver sees her fiber
as the poet sees her word
the thread feels the hand
as the word feels the tongue
structures of feeling
estoy sintiendo
siiintiendo
in the double sense of sensing and signifying
significo y siento a la vez
the word and the thread feel our passing
it is us that will go away
it is us that will go away

"Word & Thread" is a variant of the text Palabra e Hilo/Word & Thread by Cecilia Vicuña, translated by Rosa Alcalá, Morning Star Publications, Edinburgh, Scotland, 1996. Also available in English.
